If you are scared of the dentist, you are not alone. Many patients throughout the Brandon area do not seek the dental care they need because they have a strong fear of the dentist. Whether you had a traumatic experience at some point in your life or just hate the thought of needles or pain, our team is ready to work with you to provide you with a comfortable and enjoyable experience.

To help you overcome your fear of the dentist, Brandon Family Dental offers safe sedation dentistry. If you are interested in sedation, please talk to Dr. Harrell about it today.

Nitrous Oxide Sedation

Nitrous oxide, or laughing gas, is the most common type of sedation available and can be used for both kids and adults. Nitrous oxide mixed with oxygen is delivered to you through a small mask that is placed over your nose. Dr. Harrell will control the amount of gas delivered to you, and you will remain awake throughout the procedure.

During this time, you will be able to speak with Dr. Harrell if you need to, yet you will remain relaxed throughout the entire procedure you are having performed. Once the mask is removed, the effects will dissipate almost instantly.

Oral Conscious Sedation

Oral conscious sedation is offered FREE in our office. For this common type of sedation, you’ll take an oral sedative prior to your appointment. The pill will help you relax and keep you calm throughout the procedure. You will be awake and aware the whole time.

Dr. Harrell will monitor you throughout the entire appointment for your safety. You may not remember all of the procedure, but you will be able to alert Dr. Harrell about anything during the procedure.

IV Sedation

IV sedation is offered in our office and is more complex than the other two options. You will receive anesthesia through an IV. You will not be awake during your procedure and won’t even remember the procedure or the couple minutes leading up to it. The anesthesia will keep you sedated the entire time.

During your appointment with us, we will monitor your level of sedation and your vital signs the entire time you are asleep to ensure you are completely safe at all times. Once you are awake, you will be able to go home, but you will need someone to drive you.

Comfort Options

We provide you with a variety of comfort options in addition to our sedation options. Some of our comfort options include:

  • Blankets
  • Pillows
  • Complimentary drinks
  • Private rooms with large windows for natural light and beautiful view
  • Wide selection of magazines
