Relieve Your Dental Anxiety with Sedation Dentistry
If you are afraid of the dentist, you are not the only one. Many people fear the words “dentist,” “needles,” “drills,” “root canal,” and the thought of having a dental procedure performed. We understand that this fear is common, so we offer sedation dentistry in Ortonville, MI to help keep you calm and relaxed throughout your dental appointment and procedure.
When people are too afraid to go to the dentist, they generally don’t. This can cause problems later on down the road if you develop oral cancer, tooth decay, or gum disease. Brandon Family Dental is excited to discuss our sedation options with you. Ask us about them today!
Our Sedation Options
We offer a variety of sedation options to ensure that you are comfortable throughout your dental procedure. All of our sedation options are safe and effective at reducing your anxiety.
Inhaled sedation, or laughing gas, can relieve your mild dental anxiety and provide you with a pleasant dental experience. Inhaled sedation is one of the safest forms of sedation dentistry and can be performed any time in the office. This form of sedation can also be used for children who are afraid of the dentist. If you are receiving laughing gas, you will have a mask placed over your nose throughout the procedure. The mask delivers the gas to you and your dentist will control the amount you receive. Once the procedure is over, you can return to your normal daily activities immediately, and you do not have to worry about any side effects.
Oral Conscious Sedation
Brandon Family Dental offers oral conscious sedation at no charge to you. One of the many benefits of this type of sedation is that it does not have as many side effects as IV sedation. You will be awake during the procedure, but you will be in a relaxed and sedated state the entire time. If you choose oral conscious sedation, you will be given a sedative pill prior to your appointment to take before your procedure.
We offer IV sedation in house for patients who need to have extensive work done or for those patients who have a severe anxiety of the dentist. During IV sedation, you will be asleep, and you will not remember the procedure after you wake up from it. You will be constantly monitored throughout the procedure to ensure your vitals remain stable.
Other Comfort Options
In addition to our sedation dentistry, we offer additional comfort options to help relieve your dental anxiety. We have private rooms that are closed off so you do not have to worry about people seeing or hearing you. We also offer movie glasses so that you can watch TV, along with blankets and pillows. And you’re sure to love our bright, sunlit rooms and the beautiful views our large windows allow for.
If you would feel comfortable with a longer appointment or would feel less anxious by talking to Dr. Harrell or taking breaks throughout your procedure, let us know! We can accommodate you by scheduling an extended appointment.
